Following the tradition of his region’s chairmen, even though he learned by himself the art of stuffing seats with bulrush, an aquatic plant that can be harvest by the river.

It was 20 years ago, when he was about 30 years old, that he decided to focus on this craft, as an escape, he tells. Today, it is in his workshop in Baleizão, in the municipality of Beja, that he fills his afternoons by renovating chairs, combining the art of intertwining vegetable fibers with his woodworking skills.
